Concrete Coating

Professional Concrete Coating Systems for Garages, Shops, Warehouses & More

Your concrete slab is already there. A professional coating makes it work harder — sealing out moisture, resisting chemicals, and turning a dull gray floor into a clean, finished surface that’s easy to maintain and built to last.

Diamond Group installs high-performance concrete coating systems for residential and commercial properties throughout the Portland metro area. We match the right system to your floor, your traffic level, and your budget — and we back every job with a lifetime warranty.

What Is a Concrete Coating?

A concrete coating is a protective system applied directly to an existing concrete slab. Unlike paint, which sits on the surface and peels, professional-grade coatings penetrate and bond to the concrete at a molecular level. The result is a surface that won’t chip, peel, or delaminate — even under heavy traffic, vehicles, or chemical exposure.

Depending on your needs, a coating can be purely protective, decorative, or both. Diamond Group offers multiple systems — epoxy, polyaspartic, polyurethane, and hybrid builds — so the solution is always matched to the job, not the other way around.

Key Benefits Of Concrete Coatings:

How It Works

Every coating system starts with the concrete, not the product. If the surface isn’t properly prepared, no coating will hold long-term. That’s why we grind before we coat — opening the concrete’s pores to create a true mechanical bond.

From there, the system is built up in layers: primer or base coat, optional decorative broadcast (flake, quartz, or solid color), and a protective topcoat rated for your specific traffic and use case. The finished floor is dense, sealed, and ready for decades of use.

Concrete coatings work in almost any interior or exterior space where the floor takes real use.

Our Installation Process

A metallic epoxy floor only looks great when the prep and installation are done properly. This is not a shortcut product, and it is not something that should be treated like a basic paint coating. The surface preparation, repair work, product choice, and application technique all matter if you want a clean final appearance and long-term performance.

01

Evaluate

We inspect the concrete for cracks, moisture, existing coatings, and surface condition. Moisture testing is done before any coating is applied.

02

Prepare

The surface is diamond-ground to open the concrete and ensure a mechanical bond. Cracks and spalling are repaired. A vapor barrier is applied if moisture is present.

03

Build

A pigmented epoxy base coat is applied, then quartz aggregate is double-broadcast for maximum thickness and coverage. Each layer cures fully before the next is added.

04

Seal

A UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat is applied to lock in the quartz, protect against UV yellowing, and create a surface that’s easy to clean and maintain for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Paint sits on the surface and peels within a few years, especially under vehicle traffic or moisture. A professional coating bonds to the concrete mechanically and chemically — it won’t peel, chip, or delaminate the way paint does.

Yes. We can coat over most existing slabs after proper grinding and prep. Cracked or damaged concrete is repaired during the prep phase. Extremely deteriorated slabs may need additional remediation before coating.

Most residential jobs are done in 1–2 days. Larger commercial spaces may take 2–4 days depending on square footage and system complexity.

Light foot traffic is safe after 24 hours. Driving or placing heavy items on the floor is fine after 2–3 days. Full cure takes 7 days.

In residential settings, 15–20+ years with normal care. Commercial or high-traffic floors typically last 7–15 years. A re-topcoat at the 8–10 year mark in heavy-use environments will extend the life significantly.

We offer flake, metallic, quartz, solid color, and grind-and-seal finishes. We’ll walk you through the options and bring samples to your estimate so you can compare in your actual space.

Yes. UV-stable topcoats are rated for exterior use and won’t yellow in sunlight. Quartz and flake systems are popular choices for patios and pool decks where slip resistance matters.

Most cracks can be filled and repaired during the prep phase. We’ll assess them at the estimate and let you know what’s needed. Active cracks caused by structural movement are handled differently than shrinkage or surface cracks.

Yes. Every installation includes a limited lifetime warranty and a satisfaction guarantee. We don’t leave until the job is right.
